Alternative For This Product
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a portable emergency medical device designed to analyze a person's heart rhythm and provide an electrical shock when appropriate during certain cases of sudden cardiac arrest. The device uses adhesive electrode pads placed on the patient's chest to detect the heart's electrical activity and automatically analyzes the rhythm.
When a shockable rhythm is detected, the AED provides clear voice and/or visual instructions to guide the rescuer through the necessary steps. Depending on the model, the device may also provide an ECG display, real-time prompts, automatic self-testing, and status indicators to help ensure readiness for emergency use.
AEDs are designed for rapid deployment and are commonly found in hospitals, ambulances, clinics, airports, offices, schools, sports facilities, and other public locations. Their portable, battery-powered construction allows them to be used where immediate cardiac emergency response is required.
An AED is intended to complement CPR and emergency medical response, not replace them. Correct pad placement, following the device's prompts, maintaining a clear area during shock delivery, and obtaining professional emergency assistance are essential. AEDs should be regularly inspected, maintained, and operated according to the manufacturer's instructions and applicable medical-device regulations.
